What Does A Bump On The Scalp Indicate?

About 4 or 5 weeks ago, my scalp became dry and flaky and I noticed that my scalp felt sort of rough/kind of bumpy but no sores but almost like the feel of a callous. So I used Selsum Blue a few times but it only help with the flakiness. Three times I massaged an astringent on my scalp before washing my hair and it did stop the itching for about 24 hours. The last thing I tried was Tea Tree shampoo. My scalp is still rough and itches all the time. Last night I tried to get a little of one of the bumps to flake off and get under my nail but it didn t happen. In fact, it kinda wanted to bleed. The roughness is almost completely covering my scalp. Could I have a fungus?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It is very difficult to treat skin diseases without seeing it.
However, such extensive type of scalp fungal infection needs oral anti fungals like Terbinasil.
I would advise that you should see a dermatologist to confirm it and to write treatment for you.
Another possibility would be psoriasis of the scalp, your dermatologist would probably exclude it by seeing the lesion.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
