Hi,

Well, a dark grey or a black spot can be due to a number of causes and can range from a simple pigmentation to a malignancy.

Without an investigation, it is not possible to diagnose it just on clinical grounds.

This is the reason that a biopsy is advised to you as it can help in ruling out the nature of the lesion and further treatment can be advised.

For now, to reduce soreness you can apply Lidocaine gel over it and along with it do warm saline gargles. You can also avoid spicy and hard irritant foods to reduce the soreness and pain. You can even take a painkiller if the pain is disturbing.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
