Hello and welcome to HCM, The interpretation of the high vaginal smear (HVS) is as follows: The smear shows presence of pus cells which are acute inflammatory cells. Along with pus cells, few red blood cells are also present. This suggests presence of infection in the genital tract. Epithelial cells are benign epithelial cells which accompany the pus cells and red blood cells. Presence of bacteria further potentiate presence of infection, however, no fungus is present.
