What Does HVS Examination Results Interpret?

I did a HVS examination and the results are

pus cells 5-10/hpf
RBCs 0-1/.pf
Epith. cells (++++)
Candida nil
Bacteria (+)

Please interpret the results are for me. My doctor is out of town till next week and I want to know what these results mean.

Thanks, Diane

Hello and welcome to HCM,
The interpretation of the high vaginal smear (HVS) is as follows:
The smear shows presence of pus cells which are acute inflammatory cells.
Along with pus cells, few red blood cells are also present.
This suggests presence of infection in the genital tract.
Epithelial cells are benign epithelial cells which accompany the pus cells and red blood cells.
Presence of bacteria further potentiate presence of infection, however, no fungus is present.

You need to consult your doctor for prescription of antibiotic therapy.

Thanks and take care
