What Does CT Scan Finding Mean?

Hi, Could you please tell me what a mild ventricular prominence is, as I recently had a CT scan for head pain, and that is the outcome, which the nurse couldn't advise me on? I had a traumatic brain injury in a MVA in 1999, could this be something to do with it?

Thanks

Helen

Hello and welcome to HCM,
The interpretation of CT head is as follows:
Ventricles are system of interconnected spaces in the brain which contain CSF (cerebrospinal fluid).
CSF is secreted by the lining of the ventricles and it circulates between ventricles.
A ventricular prominence refers to increase in size of the ventricles or shrinkage of cerebral hemispheres so as to cause relative prominence of ventricular system.
These findings have to be correlated clinically.
Refer to your doctor with the reports.

Thanks and take care
