What Does CMD In Relation To Gall Bladder In A Child Mean?

My 12-year old has been out of school for 5 weeks... can t figure out what s wrong, Lower Abdominal pain extending into her back. CT showed wedge-shaped abnormality or her right Kidney, Doctors didn t seem worried. Had her in for an Ultrasound this morning & the tech took about 35 pics of that Kidney & her Gall Bladder. While taking pics of her Gall Bladder she typed in CMD, what does that mean? Also, any thought or suggestions? She is in the most pain in the morning & night... Thanks!

Hello,

There are a lot of different diseases called CMD. I doubt congenital myasthenia disease is involved.

Cytomegalovirus is quite common in childhood, indeed most of us get this common mononucleosis and it can cause a variety of problems and lymph node swelling is the most common sign of it.

If it were a lymph node on the scan, this would explain things and there isn't much to be done. cannot say in your case and there's a wide variety of reasons for wedged shape growths.

There are probably signs of it NOT being cancer if doctors are ignoring it. The main sign of NOT cancer is it not changing or getting less when looked at 3 to 6 months later but I cannot say in this particular case.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
