What Do You Think Of Re Section For Crohns Disease?

Hi i have crohns disease for two years now. i got severe drug induced hepatitis from biological therapy. I have right sided crohns i large bowel only. i have lots of flare ups and i am 41 with an 8 year old boy, i am considering a re section of my bowel, what do you think?

I understand your concern.
It sounds that you cannot tolerate biological therapy due to drug-induced hepatitis. You mention you have a lot of flare ups ( I will assume more than 5 or 6 times a year). With flare-ups this often it certainly affects your quality of life with time spent away from work, recuperation, feeling ill, being uable to care for your son, etc.
This is a very personal decision, that you alone can make.
A bowel resection is a big step to take, but it may return your quality of life. Once recovered from the operation, a bowel resection will likely decrease incidences of flare-ups and help you feel healthier.
You should have an in-depth discussion with your physician so you are well-informed of the pros and cons and be able to make an informed decision.
