What Do You Suggest For Urinary Incontinence?

Hello, I am about 5 weeks post-op today. On Tuesday, I started to have minimal urinary incontinence which has gotten worse. I did go to my PCP and he did a urinalysis and told me I have a UTI and started me on Cipro and another medicine for pain/ discomfort (which I have not had any to my knowlege.) I started my first dose on Wed. around noon. I am still having the urinary incontinence and am having to wear "depends"- adult diapers. I am concerned that this is going to be a permanent problem and that I have messed something up or undid something? I am just VERY CONCERNED and worried. I also spoke to my OBGYN nurse, and she said to follow the advice of PCP and if doesn't get better then to come in Monday morning.

Urologist 's  Response
Hi,
I can understand your concerns. Please do not worry much. You have mentioned that you are 5 weeks post-op. It was not clear whether the surgery was for urinary incontinence or some other problem. If you had undergone, a surgery for urinary incontinence, it is better that you visit the surgeon who had performed your surgery for local examination and further treatment planning.
Since you have been diagnosed to have a UTI, which can definitely precipitate urinary incontinence, you must take a complete course of appropriate antibiotics.
I am available for any clarification you need. Please mention the details of the surgery you had undergone, your age and associated medical conditions for a focused guidance.
Wish you a quick recovery and good health,
Dr. Raguram.
