What Do You Suggest For Redness Of The Skin Around My Baby's Eyes?
My 24 month old son had a mild stomach virus with vomiting and diareaha on the third day of his stomach illness he was seeming back to feeling himself except, he started rubbing his eyes non stop making the skin around his eyes appear red and irritated , it has now been almost three weeks and he is still rubbing them and his checks almost appear to be getting exeema! He does not have pink eye, the family gp suggested Claritin for " suspected" allergies (?) and the optometrist aggred his lower eyelids looked slightly irritated (pink) inside which could suggest allergies but could also be caused from rubbing them!! He suggested moisturizing eye drops for now and see if things improve!! Any thoughts? Seems do sudden and odd He has had nothing change in his environment he does seems to have very very mild seasonL allergies to dust, pollen etc. But it's the dead of winter Been -15 here for two weeks ??? I'm sooo lost:( Doesn't make sence to me at all!!!
Hello It seems from the history that your 2 year old son is having redness of skin around eyes without any redness of the eyes. This can be because of allergies as suggested by your doctor and it requires treatment by anti-allergic drugs. Since it seems there is no irritation in the eyes moisturizing eye drops may not be of much help but he requires anti-allergic medications as advised by your general physician.
Thank you
