Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have white strand-like spots on my tonsils and I was wondering what they could possibly be? I have taken a round of antibiotics but did not fully follow the instructions on when to take the pills. When I finished the antibiotics the spots came back. I have no fever, no pain just bad breath. I have no health insurance and I need help.
Circumvallate Papillae can get swollen due to a number of causes like throat infection, oral infections, post nasal drip, burning with hot foods and chemical substances like concentrated solution of mouthwash, allergic reaction to any food or medicine, acid reflux etc.. I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation can help in diagnosis and treatment can be advised according to the cause confirmed.. As of now you can do warm saline gargles. You can gargle with cold water and suck ice pops.. Take a soft diet and maintain a good oral hygiene.. You can also take anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen to reduce inflammation and swelling..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
