What Do Triglyceride Levels Of 346 And Cholesterol Of 22o Indicate?

36 year-old male. Hx: hernia repair 6 years ago. non-smoker, non drinker, ht: 6'2" wt: 210lbs. Recent blood work revealed: platelets 122,000. Triglycerides 346 cholesterol 220. What does all this mean. I have no s/s. Meds include occasional pepcid ac, beano, and gas x.

Thanks for contacting HCM with your medical questions.

Your lab tests show that you have elevated cholesterol. For my patients who have elevated cholesterol levels I recommend first starting a low fat and low cholesterol diet with regular exercise. If after 2-3 months of lifestyle modification the cholesterol and triglycerides don't improve then I start medication like simvastatin or atorvastatin.

You can also try using omega 3 fish oils to reduce lipids in the dose of 1000mg twice daily.
