What Do These AST And ALT Levels Indicate?

I am attempting to understand the AST (SGOT) and ALT (SGPT) readings to determine whether or not those readings are linked to Alcholism. Do you know of a web site that is informative on this issue. The reading I have is AST 62 and ALT 134. What does that mean?

AST and ALT are liver enzymes which indicate the status of the liver. In your case, both of these are mildly elevated. If you consume alcohol on a regular basis,it may lead to their increased values.
A liver supportive and abstinence from alcohol would bring them to a much lower level subsequently. You can also get an ultrasonography of the whole abdomen done to see if there are any fatty changes in your liver. Also please do consult a gastroenterologist if required.
