Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My fine needle biopsy result says :Smears are highly cellular and show sheets of epithelial cells. The cells are uniform with round nuclei and prominant nucleoli infew and irregular nuckear margins.Few myoepithelial cells are admixed focally. Can you please tell me what this means. I am still waiting on core needle biopsy result. Thanks Nandadeep.
For interpretation of the fine needle aspiration (FNA) report, it is first important to know the site of FNA. I assume that the FNA is done from breast lump. NA reveals round cells with prominent nucleoli and irregular nuclear margins raising the suspicion of malignancy. Further core biopsy from breast lump will be required for histopathological examination to confirm the findings on FNA.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
