What Do The MRI Results Indicate?

what does it mean with the Mri results saying patchy areas of mild marrow signal heterogeneity most likely represented red marrow and that the lateral menisci are unremarkable.... this for a 13 year old male who has been having knee pain and has went through physical therapy but has knee and leg pain at times for month to months at at time. not growing at rapid rate.

Thanks for using healthcaremagic.
In MRI, we see the signal intensity of the images and then diagnose. In children the bone marrow is red which makes blood but as we become adults the red marrow converts to yellow. During the change, for some time there will be overlap of both yellow and red marrows. In your case, there is overlap of both marrows so the signal intensity appears heterogenous. It is a normal phenomenon and there is nothing to worry about it.
Lateral menisci are unremarkable means that it is normal and there is nothing abnormal to tell about it.
As per the MRI, the child is perfectly normal and there is nothing to worry.
