What Do Swollen, Red Veins In Throat With Red Dots Around The Palate Suggest?

Hello, i have a question. Almost a yr ago i went to the dr about having a sore throat and having bright red veins near the back of my throat and they diagnosed me with Bronchitis and gave me meds to get rid of it. I took them and still had a sore throat off and on but did not think it was bad enough to go back. I got a cold a few days ago and my throat was/is hurting very hardly, it hurts to swallow, i am coughing up a storm, and i checked my throat last night and it appeared to be even worse than it was about a yr ago when they said i had bronchitis. It was swollen, super red, the veins were bright red, and then there appeared to be some red dots inbetween the back of my throat and the middle of my palate. I will be making an appointment in the morning as soon as the office opens but would like to get some information on here before i go. Thank you in advance.!

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain the symptoms that you are experiencing can be due to upper respiratory tract infection while it can also be due to Bronchitis and can be confirmed only after a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Chest x-ray..
You should not delay as the symptoms are worsening and consult an ENT expert and get evaluated and in case of Bronchitis he can advise you to take antibiotics like Levofloxacin, anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, decongestant like Phenylephrine, mucolytics like Ambroxol, anti-allergics like Levocetrizine, steam inhalations and warm saline gargles..
Sip on warm water and take ample of rest..
You can suck throat lozenges..
Do warm compresses on chest.

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
