What do swollen lymph nodes on the left side of the jaw indicate?

I have a 30 year old son in law who started with swollen glands on left side of jaw Monday, fever of 102.6 Tuesday with increased swelling of bilateral glands of jaw, seen by PCP and put on steroids and Tamiflu, seen Wed by ENT who ordered bloodwork for mumps, sed rate and cbc and started him on Levaquin, prednisone and oxycodone. Today pain was worse and swelling stayed the same. No fever but overnight cold sweats. Please advise. Scheduled to see ENT again tomorrow. Bloodwork pending. Please give advice as to what we are dealing with and what other studies/treatments should be done

You have symptoms of swollen lymph nodes on the left side of the jaw which could be a dental infection, viral infection, facial space infection, and could be stress. Need not to worry. I would suggest you visit the dentist once and get it examined, and the doctor may prescribe you a proper antibiotic course to subside infection. Do warm saline rinses. Go for warm compresses. Avoid opening mouth wide, and take light food.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
