What Do Swollen Lymph Nodes On The Jaw Indicate?

I’m a 64 yo healthy woman who a month ago developed a mouth ulcer, along with swollen lymph gland, sore teeth and jaw all on my left side of my face. Amoxicillin only partly improved what I thought was a sinus infection so I was put in Augmentin. I finished it a week ago, and now have thrush and loose stools. The mouth ulcer is nearly gone, and other symptoms have resolved. I’m scared I have a bad problem like HIV or leukemia. After googling I’m seeing my PCP in 4 more days.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Diarrhea and thrush are a part of side effects of Augmentin. The enlarged lymph nodes are secondary to involvement of drainage area in concern with primary infection.

Treating basic condition will make lymph nodes resolve with time.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Purva Patel
