What Do Stomach Cramps And Diarrhea Indicate?

I’ve been having soft(sometimes diarrhea ) stools pretty much everyday for a month and a half, about 5-6 Times a day. Recently, I’ve also been experiencing extreme stomach cramps/pain with the urge to go to the bathroom, and I do. I’ve made an appointment, but unfortunately I can’t be seen until the beginning of January. Should I go to the ER? Could this be Chrons or ulceritave coloitis? I don’t have any blood in my stool or dark stools. This is getting progressively worse, I can’t even finish a meal w/o my stomach hurting.

HI,

Thanks for using Healthcare Magic

If the pain is severe then you should be seen as soon as possible for assessment to rule out a surgical cause.
In terms of the chronic diarrhea, Crohn's and ulcerative colitis (both are types of inflammatory bowel disease) are possible causes.
Most commonly, there would be blood in the stool but diarrhea can occur without the blood as well.
Other causes of chronic diarrhea are--
(1)food or lactose intolerance

(2)infection

(3)side effect of medication

(4)thyroid disease

(5)diabetes

(6)irritable bowel syndrome

Your doctor would be able to assess you at your appointment to see the likely cause.

I hope this helps
