What Do Skin Cracks On The Thumbs Indicate?

I have cracks on the skin on the tops of both thumbs and to a lesser extent on all my fingers. This only happens in the winter and it is winter now. How can I treat the cracks (they do not bleed but my thumbs really hurt and make during ordinary things very difficult. And of course how to prevent more cracks.

Hello,

Skin cracks on fingers may be due to Raynaud's disease or systemic sclerosis or winter season dryness of skin or eczema or fungal Infection et cetera.

Until examination is done, it is difficult to say what it is. Please consult your doctor, he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
