Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi My son is nearly 4 and just put him to bed, as he opened his mouth to yawn, I noticed both tonsils either side have red blood veins in them, really bright. Do you know what this could be? He s not complaining of any swollen or sore throat - no fever. Thanks.
If your son does not have a fever and difficulty in swallowing or sore throat, then no need to worry. Sometimes hot food can cause vasodilatation, which leads to the prominent vein on tonsils. You can ask him to do gargles with lukewarm saltwater 2-3 times a day.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Hiren Hirpara
