What Do Painful Bumps On The Upper Eyelid Indicate?

I’ve had painful/itchy bumps on the inside of the upper eyelid on both eyes (outside corner) for over 2 months now. They started as red, irritated patches and now are growths of some kind. My optometrist told me to use lubricating eye drops four times a day. It hasn’t helped at all. What could this be and what should I do? (I’m told the bumps are where my lacrimal glands are)

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hi,

It is blepharitis, maybe inflamatory leison. Optometrist is not right for consultation should consult ophthalmologist. What he mean is dry eye for which you can apply refresh eye teardrop.

Tear content of conjuctival sack should be tested by strip test if it is less then surgically punctum may be occluded so that tear in conjuctival sac will increase and it will tackle then dry eye.

It can be autoimmune disorder but continue to apply artificial tear drop. Lubricating eye ointment can be applied, clean the eye with fresh water and clean by sterile gauge, can apply neosporineoph ophthalmic ointment in lid margin.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ashok Kumar Dash
