My son,age 42,has painful blisters on the bottom of his foot and between his toes. These are not friction blisters so I wonder if they could be caused by some type of fungus and what we can do to treat them and prevent them from continuing to spread. The ER doctor said they were caused by diabetes but his A1c is 5.46 and blood sugar is 93.
Blisters on the feet could be due to diabetes even if the blood sugar levels are under control but if only one foot is affected along with itching then it goes more in favour of a fungal infection. Ask your son to wear open footwear, keep his feet as dry as possible, avoid sharing of socks and footwear. Ask him to take tablet terbinafine for a period of 8 weeks along with luliconazole cream.
