What Do Pain And Inflammation On The Hands Indicate?

Hello, My 6 yr old daughter is having an issue that began the week before Christmas (2017) and I am very concerned. The back of her hands turn red and are causing her pain. The redness spreads down her fingers and about an inch above the wrist. It is only on the back not the palm. Doctors thought it was food allergy but it has reoccured and she was not around the spice (ginger) this time. Hydrocortison causes it to burn so bad she cries. I applied non-perfume lotion, chapstick and tried washing them with baby soap but the burning only increases. I am uploading photos. Do you have any ideas what this could be? Please help!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

As the child is too small, there can be an insect bite due to which it's happening. I cannot see the photo, so it is hard to diagnose.

You should start applying soothing agents and antibiotic like Fusidine or Mupirocin.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhadresh Lakhani
