What Do Pain And Discomfort In The Chest And Back Indicate?

Last night I awoke with discomfort all over my chest and back; moderate; achy; had been moving furniture earlier; no SOB, pulse was normal, around 60, regular; I had eaten some pretty spicy food for dinner; the first time it woke me, I went to the bathroom and had an inordinate amount of gas and it was relieved; the second time it woke me, I felt I needed to evacuate my bowels, but it wouldn t pass; I felt like it was there and then I broke out in a cold sweat; felt faint for a minute; went back to bed and raised the head of the bed and it went away pretty fast. After a few minutes, I lowered the bed to flat and I fell asleep and it didn t happen again. I m a 57 year old women with normal cholesterol, low blood pressure, 209 lbs, 5 5 , with a high-stress job. I m pretty sedentary. My question is, since it seemed to be related to a bowel issue, should I have gone to the ER anyway? I m wondering because I d like to know what to do should it happen again. Should I notify my doctor? Thanks.

Hello,

You are having gastritis or acid peptic disease. You need to follow some lifestyle tips
1. Do not eat spicy food.
2. Take medications for gastritis- Pantop or Omez or Rantac.
3. Take little food at frequent intervals. Breakfast around 8 am, a small snack at 11 am, lunch at 1 pm, a small snack at 4 pm and dinner at 8 pm.
4. Drink plenty of water.
5. Do not smoke; take alcohol or tobacco and even excess of coffee and tea.
6. Do not take much stress. Stress aggravates gastritis.
7. Do regular exercise. At least half an hour per day.
8. Learn meditation techniques.
9. Follow this regularly for 21 days. It said that anything you practice regularly for 21 days becomes a habit.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
