General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The presence of muscle pain (myalgia) and swelling of the limbs can occur in different conditions such as injury and arthritis. There are different types of arthritis, for example osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, etcetera.

Some viral infections can also cause joint and muscle pain. It would be best to be assessed by your doctor with examination and blood tests, such as complete blood count and ESR at least. ESR looks at inflammation in the body. Treatment would depend on the findings.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James
