What Do Lower Back Pain, Bloating, Stomach Pain And Pus In Urine Indicate?

I have UTI symptoms, mostly lower back pain, bloated uncomfortable stomach pain, blood and pus in urine for almost 3 months. Cultures do not grow anything. I have been on multiple doses of antibiotics including a month long prescription of lose dose antibiotics. I recently had a cystoscopy and there was nothing wrong with the bladder. Dr. has currently pulled me off all meds and I am really becoming uncomfortable again to where it is a chore to get through the day. He said the next step is a CT to check kidneys. Is it possible that this could be something else that might have similar symptoms to a UTI? My next visit is July 22 for a follow-up.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Back pain is not always related to kidneys, but to bowels too. So, if you are feeling bloating, then, your bowels have been distended. In other words, it might be a digestion problem or something else that we should look for.

So, to me, should run:
- Abdominal ultrasound
- Stool examination/analysis

Plus, should start taking probiotics to restore the normal GI and urinary microbiota. Increase water intake. Cranberry supplement can help. Depending on your gender, should run vaginal swab testing (if female) and check for urethritis (if male).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
