What Do Itchy And Swollen Black Dots On The Arm After Hedging A Fence Indicate?
I got black dots on my arm after hedging a fence line I didn t think much of them until they swelled and became itchy. I later picked at the black dots removing them and realized they basically burned into my skin not deep enough to cause and distress or terrible discomfort but they did bleed and the red itchy area spread through out my arm I do live on the east coast of the US and the only thing that causes itchiness and rash and swelling is something like poison sumac oak and ivy thank you -colt

Hi,
As per my surgical experience, the swollen dots on the arm with itching indicates secondary eruptions from possible inflammation at the skin contact site.
As you are on east coast of US, before approaching to nearest medical center, following measures will help you to some extent for better results:
- If last dose of tetanus toxoid was taken before 10 years period, it is strongly recommended to take the shot at an ER
- Local application of ice for 5 minutes each 3 times a day
- Intake of anti histamine as diphenhydramine or cetrizine for itching control
- Ibuprofen or combiflam tablet after meals with ranitidine if no history of drug sensitivity
Follow up after 24 hours about the progress of the lesions if possible with a photo picture of the same, to get further directions.
