What Do Inflammation And Swelling In The Vagina Indicate?

I had a colposcopy on Friday with 4 biopsies. By Friday evening I had burning especially after peeing (not UTI kind), redness and swelling on my vagina. I was seen again Monday for it and swabs and urine were taken to be sure of infection. I was given Flagyl also. Two days later now and three days worth of doses of antibiotics, labs were ok as the nurse put it but was told to continue the antibiotic and it still hurts to pee. I cannot get any answers. I called and asked questions like should the antibiotic be working by now? And is there anything topical that I can use to ease the burning and constant re-irritating my already tender vagina? Nurse didn t know and said she d ask and never called me back. I don t want to allow anyone poking around there again at least not until I get relief. What can I do? Could it be a reaction to the solution?

Hello and welcome to Health Care Magic, I have gone through your query and I can understand your concern.

Vagina majorly harbour some Microorganisms which render it prone to the infections.

But since your history suggests that you have been taking the Antibiotics with no relief from the symptoms. It seems that you might be having an allergic reaction to the solution or even to the latex or to the tube used during the procedure.

I suggest you go to a Specialist to have yourself examined and also rule out any other condition.
If you were my patient, I would prescribe you a local anaesthetic which should relieve the symptoms and also antihistamines to relieve the inflammation provided you were not allergic to the medication.

Hope this was Helpful

Thanks and Regards
