Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Do Elevated C-reactive Protein And Metamyelocytes Signify?
I had my blood tests done and it showed a c-reactive protein of 5.5 and 1 percent metamyelocyts. and a eGFR for kidney function as mildly low function of the kidneys otherwise all the tests done were within normal limits. Physically I am fine with normal blood pressure without mediciation. Please advise.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Elevated C-reactive protein is seen in inflammatory conditions. Metamyelocytes are increased in blood due to infections like bacterial infection. Thus, elevated C-reactive protein along with 1% metamyelocytes is likely to be due to bacterial infection. C-reactive protein will come back to normal once inflammation clears away from body. GFR reflects kidney function. Lowering of GFR is likely to be due to compromise in kidney functions. I suggest you to consult your physician for complete kidnet assessment and to look for the probable cause of low GFR. Mildly reduced GFR will not have any deleterious effect initially but it should be monitored closely.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
