What Do Chills Along With Fatigue And Body Ache Indicate?

Trying to figure out if this is the flu or not. I do not have fever, but do have chills, with fatigue, achy body, had a sore throat but it is gone, had an earache, have stuffy nose, and some cough, some dizziness, no appetite, and my upper back hurts. All around feel crappy. But NO fever. I cannot take the flu vaccine, I m 64 and I ve had Guillian Barre Syndrome in my past. Does this sound like the flu?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

As per your clinical history is a concern it looks like flu, so do a clinical examination by your doctor and discuss prescription antiviral like [oseltamivir]. Do follow lifestyle modifications like this-
1) Try to wash your hands. Thorough and frequent hand-washing is an effective way to prevent many common infections. Or use alcohol-based hand sanitizers if soap and water aren't readily available.
2) Contain your coughs and sneezes. Cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze or a cough. To avoid contaminating your hands, cough or sneeze into a tissue.
3) Try to avoid crowds. By avoiding crowds during peak flu season, you reduce your chances of infection. And, if you're sick, stay home so that you don't infect others.
4) Discuss vaccinations with your doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Uday Nath Sahoo
