What Do Bruises On The Left Calf Indicate?

Hey, I have a couple spots on the side of my left calf. More are up towards the top and then there s a place that just looks like a bruise down at my ankle. The places at the top have been there for a while, but I just noticed the one at my ankle I just noticed today. None of them hurt like bruises expect on really dark one at the top.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

As per your clinical history, is concerned please follow like this -
1) Do a clinical examination by your doctor and to confirm do few investigations like [Ultrasound, Venography, and Blood D dimer] to confirm.
2) Discuss with your doctor about prescription medications like [Blood thinners, Clotbusters]
3) Use [Compression stockings] on legs to control swelling.
Do follow lifestyle modifications like this-
1) Try to avoid sitting still. If you've had surgery or have been on bed rest for other reasons, try to get moving as soon as possible. If you're sitting for a while, try not to cross your legs because this can limit blood flow. If you're traveling a long distance by car, stop every hour or so and walk around. If you're on a plane, try to stand or walk occasionally. If you can't do that, at least try to exercise your lower legs. Try raising and lowering your heels while keeping your toes on the floor, then raising your toes while your heels are on the floor.
2) Make lifestyle changes. Lose weight and quit smoking. Obesity and smoking increase your risk of deep vein thrombosis.
3) Do regular exercise to prevent it.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Uday Nath Sahoo
