What Do Abdominal Pain And Delayed Periods Post Intake Of Plan B Suggest?

I had unprotected sex with my GF one week before her period amd did not ejaculate inside her. she took one plan B pill (that contains 50 microg of ethinyl estradiol and .5 mg of Levonorgestrel) roughly 24 hours after the intercourse and another 24 hours later 12 hours third one and fourth one 24 hours after that. it s been a week now and she hasn t had her period yet, but she s experiencing lower abdominal pain and tiredness (which are said to be the symptoms of the pills) what are her chances of being pregnant?

General & Family Physician 's  Response

Hello.
Thank you for contacting HCM.

I have gone through your question and I understand your concerns.
Pre-cum also known as pre-ejaculatory fluid can cause pregnancy as there might be motile sperms present in it even before the male ejaculates..... If your took the plan B pill within 72 hours of sex there are high chances of you not getting pregnant. You don't need to worry for the time being,If you miss your periods by three weeks I would recommend you take a urine pregnancy test just to be confirm.
Contraceptive pills have the side effect of causing the periods to come earlier or later than their due dates, cause fatigue and mild abdominal cramping.
If your pregnancy test comes negative I would recommend you consult your local gynecologist for detailed clinical evaluation and further management as there can be multiple reasons for menstrual irregularity.

I hope this answers your question. Please feel free to contact HCM again if you have any concerns.
Wishing you good health.
