Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Cuases Low Platelet Count And Elevated MPV Count?
I have a low platelet count (104-123) with an increased MPV (11.4-11.8) at 3 different times over the last 7 months. I take Omeprazole (20mg) per day and still have to have Tums occasionally to alleviate the heartburn. I have noticed excessive sweating as well but have been attributing that to Menopause (I m 55). I had a CT ABD that only showed a small hiatal hernia in the upper GI tract. I feel this hearnia after I eat. I have tested negative for HIV and Hepatitus. Is there any other tests I should ask my doctor about?
If you are not having any active spontaneous bleeding or mucosal bleeding I do not think you require any more for the testing regarding this as your platelet count even though at the lower and are effectively working for hemostasis.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
