Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern. As per your query you symptoms of cough and sore throat which is due to upper respiratory tract infection. I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles and take paracetamol . You should take throat lozenges and avoid cold carbonated beverages. You should take antibiotic Ciprofloxacin in case of bacterial infection and combination with anti allergic medication Sinarest . Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. You should get swab test, routine blood test and paranasal sinus x-ray done and start treatment after proper prescription. Avoid oily and sharp food. Drink glass of warm water with one spoon of honey.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari

Hi, I had feeling of something stuck in my throat so I visited ENT doctor. The feeling of stuck sensation was at or above the thyroid cartilage. I also get pungent taste sometime when I swallow. Previously I had sore throat 1 week prior visiting the ENT DOCTOR. I did not take any medical help. I used to use salt water gargle and the symptoms subsided. This visit the doctor examined my throat and prescribed kefpod for 1 week. Next day swab test was done and blood picture was taken. The swab test showed no grown micro organism. Blood picture was normal. Doctor said it is viral infection and asked me to complete the antibiotic course and use nasal spray. Ear wax was also removed. Now it has been more than 20 days the feeling of stuck sensation is still persistent. I continue to use betadine gargle. What more can I do to get over the stuck sensation? Is it the follicle as my ENT doctor said should I under go any test? Please suggest me any thing to relieve the symptom Thank you

Hi Doctor. I had a sore throat 6 weeks ago.No flu, no pain but just lightheadedness and dizziness. Without seeing any specialist, I started taking antibiotics-amoxillin 250mg without much fifference. I went see the doctor and prescribed me the same antibiotics to taken for4 days. He also prescribed some paracetamol for any pain thet may come up.After completing the course,My throat cleared but only for one day and again it recurred. I again consulted another doctor and gave me only ofloxacin to be taken as 400mg per day for five days.I had also my blood pressure measured at 140/100. After completing the course, the throat cleared but after a week or so it recurred again. The doctor this time prescribed me augmentin 2grams a day for 7 days and cough syrup for dry cough because I had started getting cough. Till to date the my throat has cleared and do not cough any more. In between the course of the augmentin dose, that is on sixth day of the augmentin treatment, I started feeling some bit of cold and started experincing headaches-sort of migraine types of headaches. I also had HIV test done and it went negative. Off to the doctor again. The doctor ordered me to CBC-blood count. The results were that RBC were in normal range. The WBC were in normal range with diffrential being Neutrophills at 48% and Lympho at 47 %. The doctor adviced that there is nothing to worry about as there is no infection. He prescribed me Ebastin-antihistamin to negate the effect of a dry throat. But litlle bit of cold in my body and those headaches still persisted. Off to the doctor. The doctor prescribed me mefenamic acid 500mg to be taken for five days. The headaches appears and disappears after taking the medicine. The doctor also measured my blood pressure and read 136/100. The doctor also ordered me to take some blood test for widal agglutination, vitamin b12, fasting blood sugar, thyroid and urine routine test. Widal was negative.Fasting blood sugar was in the normal lab range. TSH levels were in the normal lab range. In urine routine, there was scanty RBC but no pus cell. There was vitamin b12 deficiency and it was showing-92.8 with normal lab range being 208-903. The doctor started giving me vitamin b12 supplements through direct injections. Two injection in a week. I have had two injections but still those headaches and drowsiness, lightheadedness is still there. Please help me and advice.
