What Could Throbbing Pulse On Neck And Throat Suggest?

I have had a throbbing in my neck/throat that feels like a pulse, but it is internal. It doesn t hurt but I am very aware of it. It is sometimes strong enough to make me cough. It is in the throat and down to my upper chest/collarbone. It has been happening intermitantly for several weeks and it will last for many minutes a time.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Dear patient
Throbbing pulsation in neck and upper chest is normal in thin patients as large vessels from heart are directly connected to neck vessels. So if you are thin built this may be the reason. Other reasons 1. Anxiety episodes 2. Thyrotoxicosis 3. Heart valve defect with regurgitation of blood from heart. If it's only feel of pulse you need not to worry. But if it's causing chest pain or anxiety or difficulties with exertion you need to consult cardiac physician.
