What Could The Pimple-like Bump On Tongue Be?

Hi I'm 15 years old and I've had a pimple-like bump on the back left side of my tongue for about 3 days now. It hurts a lot and my throat is extremely sore as well. I'm finding it hard to eat because it hurts to much to swallow. Do you know what it is? and how do I fix it?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain the most common cause of a pimple like bump over the tongue can be a canker sore or apthous ulcer.
It can occur due to a number of common causes like nutritional deficiency like Vitamin B12, iron and folic acid, stress, taking plenty of citrus and acidic foods, allergic reaction to any medication, tongue bite injury or injury with some sharp tooth, hormonal changes etc..

The soreness in throat can be due to bacterial and viral infection.

-You need not to worry and start doing warm saline gargles as it benefits both the conditions..
-For reducing pain and inflammation you can take IBUPROFEN [ MOTRIN or ADVIL].
-Apply a numbing gel containing Lignocaine over the sore for pain relief especially during eating..
-Take a multivitamin tablet for 15 days.
-Avoid hot and spicy foods.

For sore throat which can be bacterial or viral infection or at times it can be a viral infection with a secondary bacterial infection..
So you can take Azithromycin 500 mg once a day for 5 days along with warm saline gargles and take throat lozenges.

Both the conditions will resolve in a week or ten days and in case if you do not find any improvement consult an ENT expert..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
