What Could Swelling Of Hands And Feet Suggest With A Family History Of Polycystic Kidney Disease?

I have been having swollen ankles, hands and face in the mornings. My ankles also swell when riding or sitting too long. There is polycistic kidney disease in my family and I have a mild mitral valve prolapse. My blood pressure is normal and I drink lots of water every day. Wondering what would cause this?

I can understand your concern.
After having gone through the symptoms described in your query, I am of the opinion that you seem to have some sort of kidney disease or suspected glomerulonephritis. I would advise you to kindly undergo certain lab tests such as CBC, urine analysis, kidney function tests and an abdominal ultrasound scan to support the diagnosis.
Meanwhile, reduce the dietary salt intake as well as excess of drinking water.
A nephrologist consultation is highly recommended in view of the strong family history of polycystic kidney disease.
