What Could Runny Nose And Teary Eyes In An Infant While Having Cold Mean?

Hi, my grand daughter is 14 months and has a mild cold. She is experiencing tears in her left eye. Just occasional weeping without pus or an eye obstruction. I always thought that this was a means by which a baby s sinuses cleared themselves. She does not have a cough but does have a runny nose when she sneezes which is frequently. Am I right about the sinus drainage in the eye or is it symptomatic of something else? Thanks. Carol

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Looking to the history it seems that she is having allergic rhinitis.
Due to cold and allergy she get watering from her eye.
Give her some decongestant oral drops for 2-3 days and she will be alright.
Ok and take care.
