Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Could Recurring Pulsating Feeling In The Base Of Neck Indicate?
I have a pulsation at the front base of my neck. This has been going on for the past 4 years. My heart rhythm has also changed and is more of pounding. Along with this is blood pressure that can rise to 170/100 and drop to 80/60 in minutes. When having an episode a strange sensation of fluid pushing through my head arms and legs and a lot of varicose veins on my left thigh. Lying down, eating, having shower all seem to aggravate the condition. I have visited several cardiologist who say my tests are ok. Could I be having Tricuspid regurgitation? Another cardiologist thinks I might need ablation. Please help me.
I think this pulsating feeling on the base of the neck together with rapid heart rate may be related to hyperthyroidism. You should get your thyroid checked doing an ultrasound and hormone levels T3,T4 and TSH.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka
