What Could Recurrent Puncture Between Toes With Infection Indicate?

Hello, This happens to be the second time I ve found what seem to be a small hole or puncture located imbetween my pinky toe and the ring toe... It first appeared on my left foot in the same area a few months ago... It became very painful to walk... It created swelling and darkening around the infected area... It eventually went away on its own without any treatment... Now I have the same problem with my right foot in the exact same location... I just noticed it today... I m not sure if its some type of condition I developed because My job requires several hours of standing and walking in heels... Please help... Thanks

Hi.
As per your case history you are having tinea pedis (a fungal infection on toes).
My treatment advice is -
1. Don't scratch the lesion and wear loose footwear.
2. Apply an antifungal cream like clotrimazole cream twice daily on it.
3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine twice daily for itching.
4. Other treatment options are oral fluconazole, itraconazole and terbinafine taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Thanks.
Dr. Harshit bhachech.
MBBS, DDVL.
