What Could Recurred Fever, Sore Throat And Headache In A Child Mean?
hi, eight year old boy wiyh high temp, sore throat headache and stomach pain, it`s the second time he has these sympthoms since 4th jan. in jan he was sick for a week and dr said he thaught it was swine flu, he is now sick since 7th feb and dr reckons its viral. could any other illness cause these symptoms?
Hello..if a physician has seen and reassured you that it is viral, then I would prefer to go with it. But I will explain you how a viral illness behaves so that you can be more confident. Fever of few days without any localizing signs could as well a viral illness. Usually rather than fever, what is more important is the activity of the child, in between 2 fever episodes on the same day. If the kid is active and playing around when there is no fever, it is probably viral illness and it doesn't require antibiotics at all. Once viral fever comes it will there for 4-7 days. So do not worry about duration if the kid is active. Regards - Dr. Sumanth MBBS., DCH., DNB (Paed).,
