What Could Cause Tiredness, Sleeplessness And Increased Sadness In Life?

hi, im hoping you could help me. I have been feeling really sad for a while now and have gradually lost motivation to see anyone or do most of the things I used to enjoy. I hate my life, I hate having to get up in the morning. I am always so tired but find it almost impossible to get to sleep and sometime I end up drinking alcohol just to help me get to sleep. I have also started harming myself and found it is the only thing that helps. Lately I have started thinking about killing myself but it comes in waves, depending on how sad I am feeling that day. I wan't to go see my GP but am afraid she will say I should go to hospital and this makes me too scared to go. What should I do? I really want to try get some help but am way too scared to go in case she recommends me going to hospital. Please help/

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello thanks for asking from HCM

I can understand your problem. You have symptoms like sadness of mood, loss of motivation, anhedonia or lack of enjoyment, hating self, tiredness, poor sleep and harming self etc. You also have suicidal ideation. These symptoms are symptoms of moderate to severe depression. I would advise you to consult a psychiatrist for these symptoms. As symptoms are severe you need proper treatment. Medicines like Fluoxetine, Paroxetine, Sertraline, Duloxetine, Venlafazine etc are commonly prescribed anti-depressant. Consult a psychiatrist for prescription of these drugs.
Apart from that COGNITIVE THERAPY by a good psychologist will also help in improvement of symptoms. Relaxation exercises will help to build confidence and your symptoms will improve.

Thanks, hope this helps you.
