What Could Cause Poor Bowel Movement Despite Taking Laxatives, Vomiting And Right Lower Abdominal Pain?

Took laxatives for the past 4 days, 2x the recommended dose. Still can only pass a small stool. Usually if I take laxatives (the same brand) I have a super loose stool. Two days ago I woke up puking bile (after taking laxatives) and I didn t pass a stool till today and it was small. I have been having stomach pain in my lower right side but it goes away after a few minutes. I am 30 female, 5 6 123pds. I exercise every other day and eat ok. I am scared I am having appendix problems but I looked it up and I should be in agony of that was it. I m scared but am also scared to go to the ER unless I m dying. My Dr is only available at a months notice and urgent care here is a joke. Should I be worries?

Hello,

Low fibre diet or altered bowel habits or travelling or poor water intake or hypokalemia or hypothyroidism or hypocalcemia or anaemia may cause an altered bowel movement.

You may depend upon laxatives. you may try magnesium citrate or ipsagula husk or Benefiber or Metamucil fibre.

Also, get it done ultrasound abdomen to rule out the cause. If symptoms not improved you may need to take enema which may give relief by passing the stools.

Please consult your gastroenterologist he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
