What Could Cause Numbness In Hands And Arms ?

My moms hand and arm has been going numb for awhile now. I was wondering could it be a fracture or anything? She hasn t had any pains. She has had problems lifting and holding items, her hand feels dead sometimes, and she can t move it at all. But, again she has no pain what so ever.

HI, Numbness in a hand is usually caused by damage, irritation or compression of one of the nerves or a branch of one of the nerves in your arm and wrist. Diseases affecting the peripheral nerves, such as diabetes, also can cause numbness, Cervical Spondylosis, Vit B12 deficiency. A variety of tests may be needed to confirm the cause before appropriate treatment can begin.
