What Could Cause Loose Motion In A 1 Years And 11 Months Old Child?

Hi my son is 1yr and 11 months. From morning he has passed loose stool for around 3 to 4 time, but after his dinner he seem to be getting temperature and agin passing loose stool. Gave him crosin 6ml. His weight is around 11 kgs. He has crams in his tummy I guess was crying holding him tummy so gave cyclopam 3ml. SHOULD I give him nor-metrogyl, if yes then wht should be the dosage? Plz reply it's urgent.

Thanks for your query.I am Dr.Sharon Baisil.
Loose stools are avary common condition in children.Check whether he has any signs of dehydration,like excessive thirst,sunken eyes,loose skin pinch.If there is no dehydration you can continue giving lots of liquids like rice water salted,ORSsolution,coconut water.Give Paracetamol for the fever.Cyclopam only if necessary for the abdominal cramps. and important thing is get a stool examination for cysts,parasites and ova.Only by that you can decicde whether to give metrogyl or not.Also look for presence of blood or mucus in stools.that is also an indication for antibiotic.Otherwise just supportive therapy is enough.
