What Could Cause Hot Flushes?

I have a friend, who is having extreme hot flushes, swelling of her limbs, and nausea. She had a full hysterectomy several years ago. She is currently on a thyroid pill and water pill. Her purging is so bad she is drenching through her clothing. The swelling is so much she is changing out different sizes of shoes during the course of a day. Weight gain is tremendous and she hardly eats anything. Trying to get her into mayo clinic, but their not sure what specialist she should see. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, Welcome to Health care magic forum.
As she had total hysterectomy, she might be facing the deficiency of the estrogen hormone so for the residual hormone was there and now she is deficient.
As you describe, the edema may not be related to the hypothyroid, it appears to be some sort of kidney disease, anemia, or thiamine deficiency.
I advise her to consult a nephrologist for diagnosis and treatment.
Wishing for a quick and complete recovery. Thank you.
