Hello,

The raised levels of CPK can be due to heart or a muscle or a bone related issue. It can be raised due to statin therapy or excessive exercise also.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Praveen Tayal, Orthopaedic Surgeon

Sir, my father has been diaganosed for the high cpk level. The biological limit as per the doctor is b/w 35-232 and the diagnosis is 1032. The test has been done through Ranbaxy. He is 63 yrs old and overweight. The wight is approx. 95 kgs. The major problem in his case is that he loses balance while walking, forget driving. This has virtually happened over-night and before this he was perfectly fine to the extent that he could drive a scooter and car also upto 600 kms with-out a break. He has high blood presassure and also has been diagnosed as high in uric acid. Doctor has also told us that there is no cure for this. The medicines or any other therapy is only preventive so that the problem does not increases but besides that, he has to live with the problem. He is living in Jammu (j&k), living on the first floor. Doctor has also suggested him not to climb the stairs, so basically he is house arrested since last 20 days and has only gone out while his visit to the doctor. We are thinking on the lines of changing the house also in 1-2 months if the same scene continues. As per the doctor this is a neurological problem which is not curable, however with the medicine this may not increase. Beyond this, the doctor has not explained much. The diagnosis has been done by a neuro-physician. Also the other tests performed like the CT scan, chest x-ray and other blood tests inclusive of the Acetycholine receptor autoantibodies are all normal so that is a positive indication as per the doctor. The medicines suggested are :Evion LC (1 daily after dinner) Cap. Rejunex (1 daily after dinner) and Tab. Adesam-200 (1 after breakfast and 1 after dinner. My e-mail for your kind reference and communication is YYYY@YYYY . Will wait for the reply from your side. Thanks !!

Last winter my son-in-law had a bad bout with flu. After the flu symptoms went away he suffered with high CPK levels, he was muscle tired, weak and his liver and kidney enzymes were high. It took approximately 3 months for him to recover with much rest. Now he finds out that his CPK levels are at about 800 and he is worried sick. Doctor s never found out any cause for his levels last year.

Hey I found out that I had an elevated CPK a few months back when I went to the doctor following an intense training class involving firefighting. I was told to come back a few days later and my CPK dropped to 1700 before it was 3579. I work a lot and don t get much sleep and I do workout a good bit. I went back to the doctor a few days ago and my CPK was still elevated around 1300. When I went in my complaint was fatigue and some SOB while walking which doesn t happen usually. And I m getting more tired during my workouts. I haven t had any fever chills or cough but I was told that I had a mild case of sleep apnea I m a 26 you male whose in good shape. I cramp a lot after workouts and sometimes when I m just relaxing I was checked for a few autoimmune diseases and they came back negative. Wondering what could be causing this. I do not have a pertinent medical hx. Thank you

Hi I have been tested negative for thyroid & liver problems & arthritis. However I am unwell at least for sometime every day and have the following symptoms. Slight arrythmia, heat intolerance, even when it isn t hot at all I can heat up a lot, when i drink even cold drinks I heat up. Breathlessness, anxiety, irritability, fatigue, trembling hands, muscle weakness, depression, concentration difficulties, even when I eat a lot I don t put on weight. I have difficulty getting back to sleep when I wake up at night, pains/aches in joints and hands, mood swings, forgetfullness, body odour problems. When I twist the upper part of my body, where my thyroid is it feels like something is grinding and it blocks my airways a bit making it difficult to breathe. I take no medications apart from a ventolin inhaler. I have been diagnosed with adhd, tourette syndrome & depression. It really appears to me to be a thyroid problem but the tests have always been negative

Hello, I am 40, male, non-smoker, 6ft tall and weighing 194lbs. I ve been losing weight for the past 5 months. In March I went to my cardiologist to have my heart checked. Since then I am on Lisinopril 20mg to control my bloodpressure. All the tests were fine. At the time of my doctors visit I was weighing 230lbs. So I dropped around 36 pounds in 5 months. Is that normal? Also, it doesn t stop. I keep losing weight. I changed my diet a little bit, but nothing radical though. Less soft drinks and deep fried food, other than that I have decent lunch and dinner. I don t have any pain or loss of appetite. My bowel movement is normal and stool color is light-brown to brown. Could Lisinopril be the cause of my weight loss? Also, I have anxiety and get very nervous with the slidest pain. Could anxiety also be a cause? Your thoughts and comments are more than welcome. Many thanks Michael
