Hello, age 23 female.. have been experiencing discomfort when urinating for past few months with no infection--taking vitamins and probiotics to help. Now experiencing UTI symptoms, fatigue, and bumps on back of tongue. Currently taking vitamin c supplements, and drinking lots of water. What could be the cause of this?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear,

The symptoms as mentioned in your post can be attributed to Urinary tract infection.
Urine examination (routine+microscopy) will be helpful in clinching the diagnosis.

The treatment involves:
1. Drinking lots of water
2. Antibiotics based on culture & sensitivity reports.
3. If there is associated fever, then paracetamol 500 mg three times in a day can be added.
4. Additional investigations like X ray KUB (Kidney Ureter & Bladder) and Ultrasound scan of abdomen & pelvis will be helpful in detecting any hidden focus of infection in the Genito urinary tract.
5. Avoid acidic foods, carbonated drinks and alcohol...& maintain good hygiene.

Wishing a good health.
Take care.
