What could cause cough?

Hello,

For about a week now my mom has had a continuous cough. Now it's gotten to the point where when she coughs, she ends up throwing up. She went to a walk-in clinic and the doctor assigned her an antibiotic because she also has redness in her ears and throat, but the medicine does not seem to be helping. She is 46 years old and takes medicine to control her blood pressure and she also has fat in her liver as well as an ovary cyst. Her height is 5'3" and I'm not sure about her weight.

Hi, thank you for posting your query on health care magic.

I have gone through your query and I can understand your concern.

Your mother is probably suffering from Inflammation in the respiratory tract.

She may find relief by taking following medicines:
Cough expectorant containing Ambroxol,
Antihistaminic like Cetrizine,
Analgesic with Anti-inflammatory like Ibuprofen in case of throat/nasal pain,
Antacid like Rantac.

Also do steam inhalation.Avoid cold, oily, very sweet and bakery products as they increase mucus production.Drink lots of fluids (war).Avoid dust.Drinking hot tea with honey, ginger and lemon would also help.

Hope this answers your question.Take care.
