What Could Cause Chin Bruising?

My daughter had bruising show up on her chin that is purplish-brown & covers from under her lower lip down from both corners of her mouth to underneath her chin. Just showed up yesterday & she said she didn t do anything. What would cause that & should I be alarmed enough to get it checked out right away?? My daughter will be 12 years old in September, is approx 41/2 ft tall & 120 lbs. She has asthma & allegies, was born a month early & spent 1 month in NICU for jaudice & related issues about 5 days after she was born. Gets 2 allergy shots every week, takes meds (advair, claritan, astelin, flonase, singulair, fluoxitine & multivitamins) & broke her wrist 6/26/11 with cast coming off 7/28/11.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi, skin lesion in form of appearance of bruise on chin region with a history of only 1 day could be due to insect bite or a viral infection like herpes. In insect bite redness at the region of bite appear suddenly and cause redness and swelling at the region while herpetic infection can occur by contact with an infected person. I advice you to revert with some good pictures of the skin lesions. Take care.
