What could bony prominence on neck disappearing with head movement be?

I have a boney prominence on my neck about a few inches from my hairline. I noticed it about two weeks ago. It feels like its on my actual spine but off a little like my spine is out of place. it s hard NOT soft. Just hard. It seems it disappears as I move my head back. Should I see my family doctor?

Hi,

It could be a cyst in skull skin or could be a muscle pull since one strong muscle is attached in that bone. Take painkillers, muscle relaxants and local heat for 7-10 days and if there is no improvement, consult your physician.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

We have an appointment with my 8 year old daughter s doctor on Friday, but being the modern mom I am, I m hitting up the internet to research before we get there. She has two hard, bony feeling bumps over her spine, at the base of her neck/top of her back. One bump is larger than the other. She s been complaining about the bump for a few days. She says it doesn t hurt, but it is obviously bother her if she s complaing. Based on an internet only description, any ideas on what this could possibly be? And what types of questions would be best to ask her dr?

I have a small bone or something on the left side of my neck that feels abnormal. Right above it feels as if there is a space above it. The right side of the throat is smooth, but the left side has the bone you can feel. I ve notce I can t make myself burp like I use to. When u push the throat to the left, it feels as if the throat has been broke or something. There isn t any pain in the throat, just agrivating. I was wondering how the left side of the throat is suppose to feel?

I have a bony bump on the back of my head approximately where my nose is but on the back of my head. It s under my skin and feels to me like a part of my skull but the woman who cuts my hair said she has never felt that before on someone. It doesn t hurt, it s been there for as long as I can remember. Should I be worried? I have had MRI s done on my neck and cranium in the past 3-5 years and nothing has ever been brought up relating to this.
